Recent Files Scanner

If you forget to specify a destination folder, files will be saved or downloaded on a default path and you may have difficulties finding them. Even if the file is not large, it would be a waste of disk space to save or download the file a second time. Like its name suggests, Recent Files Scanner can help you locate recently created, accessed or modified data. It allows you to scan any folder and it places various search criteria at your disposal.

The application is freeware and you can use it even if your computer has modest hardware. It works on Windows XP and later editions and it requires .NET Framework 4.0 to function properly. Installing the software is not difficult and it can be done in less than a minute.

You may configure a scanning process and view its results on separate tabs. Besides targeting a folder, you may set up a dates range. If a file is created, accessed or modified within the established range, the software will find it. Advanced search settings can be found on the same tab. The software allows you to type file name masks, folder masks and search terms. It is also possible to select a search depth and to set maximum numbers for watch events and located files.

When your settings are complete, you may click a Start button, located on a toolbar. Files that match your search criteria are displayed instantly, on the Results tab. You can use different options to view their thumbnails, properties, to launch them or open their folders. A search function is available as well, so you can locate specific items right away.

Recent Files Scanner can also monitor your targeted folder. You just need to select the appropriate option on the software's toolbar and enable the monitoring feature. If you copy new files or make any other changes in the monitored folder, the affected files will appear on the same results list, on the software's interface. You can also export the results as Excel spreadsheets.
